Lesson: The 3-Second Scan – How Guests Judge Your Listing in Search

Module 1: Sales Funnel & Introduction into Psychology

In short

Guests decide whether to open a listing in a quick, mostly automatic glance at the search card. Their fast, intuitive thinking reacts to the hero photo first, then the rating or badge, the total price and the first words of the title. If any of these fails against the cards around it, they keep scrolling, so the card must be clear at phone size.

Questions people ask

What do guests see on an Airbnb search result card?

Typically the lead photo (often swipeable), any badge such as Guest favourite, a short type and location line, the title, key details like beds, the total price for the dates and the star rating with review count.

Does Airbnb show the total price in search results?

Yes. Airbnb made total price display the global standard in April 2025, showing the price including fees before taxes. Australia has had total price display since 2019.

Why does my Airbnb get views in search but few clicks?

Usually the listing card isn't standing out against the cards around it. The lead photo, the first words of the title and how the total price compares nearby are the most common causes.
