Communication 19: OwnerRez - System Messages - Optional - Scheduled Security Deposit

System Messages

In short

If you use a security deposit and the card hold cannot be placed before arrival, the guest should hear about it straight away with a link to resubmit. OwnerRez's scheduled security deposit failed system message does this automatically and explains that a deposit is a hold, not a charge. Following it up the same day keeps the rule credible and avoids last-minute problems at check-in.

Questions people ask

Is a security deposit hold the same as a charge?

No. A hold reserves the amount on the guest's card without charging it, and is released after departure if there are no issues.

What happens if a security deposit hold fails in OwnerRez?

OwnerRez can email the guest with the processor's message and a link to submit the deposit again.

Should I follow up a failed security deposit?

Yes. If you require a deposit, following up promptly shows the rule is enforced and avoids issues before check-in.
