Lesson: Bathrooms, Laundries & Transitional Spaces

Module 4: Designing & Setting Up Your Airbnb

In short

Bathrooms are where guests judge cleanliness most harshly, so they set the standard for the whole property. You rarely need to renovate: what matters is enough bathrooms and hot water for the group, good ventilation to prevent mould, a shower that feels generous, quality towels and clear hygiene signals. A well-equipped laundry, including a dryer, saves guests time and is something many notice when it's missing.

Questions people ask

How many bathrooms does an Airbnb need?

A common guide is roughly one bathroom for every three to four guests, plus separate toilets where possible. If you have fewer, disclose it clearly so larger groups know before they book.

Do water-saving shower heads hurt Airbnb reviews?

Very restrictive heads can, because a weak shower makes guests feel short-changed. A WELS-rated head designed to feel strong at a lower flow gives both comfort and efficiency.

Does an Airbnb need a clothes dryer?

For most properties, yes. Guests deal with wet swimwear, spills and travel washing, and a dryer saves them time, especially in winter or wet weather.
